Shoes coming off S795-28 Option: 28C balances

A quick learner from Brigantine, New Jersey says:
In 2016, I had to replace the original balances on my Patriot windows. I upgraded to the S795-28 balances as the originals balances were not strong enough for the weight of the windows. However, now the shoes are breaking or separating from the new balances. As this is a vacation home, I am surprised and disappointed that they did not last longer. I have a couple of questions:

1. Any idea why they did not last longer?
2. Can I just replace the shoe on these instead of buying the whole new balance?
3. What is the process for just replacing the shoe if this is the solution?

Thanks,
Ken

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I'm not sure why they might be breaking. Where exactly on the shoe is the damage? Is it happening to all of them, or just some? Also, what is the weight of the sash these balances are supporting?

In the short term, you can install new shoes. See our 15-195. Remove the balance and any broken pieces. Then, hook the new shoe under the rivet and snap it in so that the nylon pins go in the side balance holes. It should just pop right in.
