Shower door handle

I ordered a 10-126 shower door handle to replace the broken one on my shower door but the holes for the mounting screws don't line up it appears that this handle is a bit smaller. how do I determine the exact size I will need and then how to I go about exchanging this one I just purchased.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Can you show us a few pictures of the original? Can you also tell us its exact measurements, compared to the 10-126? Thanks!

I am doing this for a friend of mine and I will get to their house sometime this week to take some measurements.
