Silver line 5500 patio door replacement lock

My lock broke and fell down the side of the door. I picked up a new one at local store but it isn?t rounded and wiont install. Wheee can I find this? It?s 3/8? wide

Thanks for writing in. This is a famous mortise: the 82-218. We know it well because the doors that use this mortise often (unfortunately) allow the mortise to fall inside. It's got a round face to fit the hole, like what you need. Our installation video shows how to avoid the mortise falling in during installation:

The back of the 82-218 is rectangular but the a lot is oval and will therefore not fit!

The hole is oval to match the face of the 82-218. I guarantee you that it will still work, but you can't just pop it in straight. If you watch our video, you'll see that we sort of angle it into the hole. 

We get this question a lot, and every customer who brings this up is able to get it to fit once they angle it in like we show in our video. I'm confident you will be able to do the same.
