Hello,

I actually had to increase the width of one of my Casement windows at home. I originally had the 36-004-10 hinge set and replaced it with the 36-090-10 Egress hinge, which increased the window opening by 3".

However, swapping out the hinge set was the easy part. You'll also need to move your operator closer to the hinge side to accommodate for the sash's increased range of motion. My casement window was the wood type. Since yours is vinyl, you might have a little harder time cutting your vinyl "sill cover" and making it look nice.

Take a look at the 36-090-10 egress hinge and the related videos on casement hinges to decide what you want to do. Thanks for posting.

How far does the window edge move into the frame on the 36-090-10 egress hinge?

Hello,

If you are referring to the clearance from the back edge of the window sash to the hinge side of the frame, the 36-004-10 was about 4". With the 36-090-10 egress hinge, the clearance was closer to 1". This is with both hinges installed in the same location on the window sill. It's the mechanics of the hinge that gives you the difference.
