Sliding Glass Door (SGD) latch assembly

Handy Person from Gilbert, AZ 85234
I am the owner of Her-Man Home Maintenance for the last 25+ years, and a Glazier for 20 years prior to that. I have alot of experience in the Glazing industry.
I have never in my days seen a latch screwed on the outside of the door frame, they are usually internal.
There is a Canadian Patent 919213 Patented 1973 marked on part as seen in Photo #3.
The latch assembly is very loose when istalled with handle and lever, in that my client went out the SGD and closed the door, and the latch lever handle fell down, and locked them out of their home.

Thanks for reaching out! It has also been my experience that the installation screws are on the interior, so it sounds like the handle set may have been installed incorrectly.

I'm certain we can supply a replacement for the existing set, but I'll need to see a photo of it to confirm. I'll also need to know the distance between the installation holes, from hole center to hole center.

The mortise lock reminds me of the 82-211 Mortise Latch & Keeper. To determine if this is the right fit, be sure to compare the specifications below.

If they are not a match, take a look over the 82-214B. The dimensions for this set can be found on the website.
