Sorry for not saying this before, but that's a great photo! Most of the time we're lucky to get a smartphone photo with a ruler thrown next to the part.

I didn't mention replacing the internal component (anti-slam button) because, while you could simply remove it, it would remove an important safety feature that prevents you from slamming the mortise into the jamb of your door. The part isn't available by itself. To maintain the normal function of the door, you'd have to replace the whole mortise.

Hey Ron ?,
I am looking for that exact, internal component for the same exact latching mechanism myself. Were you able to determine if the latch 82-238, is in fact the correct latch to replace the broken one? If it is, then I need to purchase one myself but I didn't want to go and grab it if it didn't actually work or fit right. Thanks in advance.
