Sliding door lock stuck in locked position

Question

I cannot get the lock mechanism to move and the lock is stuck locked so I cannot access the door edge. Is it possible to unlock by removing the screws holding the lock cover in place? Also can you recomend a replacement part

Thanks for posting. Yes, your best bet is to remove the handle set and see if you can extract the locking tooth. Otherwise, these sorts of situations get difficult and will require a pro to cut a door in the hole to get everything out. As far as a replacement, the 82-002 might work, please compare. We carry a white version, but it comes with an outdoor key lock--the 82-002WK.
