Sliding glass door lock

Handy Person from Virginia
We have an inexpensive sliding glass door. We cannot identify the manufacturer. Marking on the door is "JW". The frame is aluminum and the door handle is heavy cast metal. The lock inside the handle broke off. The company that installed the door no longer works with this manufacturer. They sent us to a building supply store. That business cannot get the part from the manufacturer. Told us to figure it out ourselves. The door is in good shape otherwise so I don't want to replace the whole thing.
If we can find a replacement, we can do the work ourselves.

Thanks for posting. This thumb lever likely can be replaced with the 82-107, however I am afraid it is available only in a white finish. For a whole new handle set that comes in different colors, see the 82-089. Finally, you might want to check the mortise lock in the door to make sure it isn't broken and was responsible for the thumb lever breaking. To do this, try manually 'throwing' the mortise lock with a slotted screwdriver. If it doesn't budge, then you know the mortise lock also needs to be replaced. Send us a picture of it so we can ID it for you.

Thank you! We will give that a try with the mortise and post a reply!
