Sliding glass patio door that will not lock

Quick Learner from USA

Good Afternoon,

My sliding glass patio door with a double hook mortise lock will not lock. I can find no identifying information for the existing lock.

When I called this morning, I thought the problem might be with the anti-slam button. I can retract it by pushing it with my finger when the door is open but the lever won't move when the door is closed. I did an alignment check using chalk and the anti-strike button lined up with strike plate correctly. I have attached four pictures for the current lock mechanism.

The dimensions of my existing lock look like the 82-238.

My keeper is 9" long.

The top and bottom holes are 7 11/16" apart and are used to connect the keeper to the door frame. The holes the screws go into on the frame do not look like pre-drilled holes but rather post-drilled holes.

Holes 2 and 3 are 6 1/2" apart and connected to the old mechanism at the very top and bottom.

Hello,

We appreciate your inquiry! Your patio mortise lock does remind me of the 82-238 Double Hook Mortise Lock. Although, to confirm with certainty that this is the replacement you need, I would suggest removing the internal lock so that you can accurately compare all of the dimensions. It would be advised to reattach the faceplate before removing the lock.

You keeper can likely be replaced with the 89-036 Two-Point Adjustable Striker.

I did as you suggested. I removed the internal mechanism and verified that the dimensions all matched. I believe I am ready to order.
