Sliding patio door

Question

Locking handle moves up or down, but does not move the locking mechanism.

First, I would remove the handle from the door and attempt to throw the mortise lock manually with a screwdriver. If it still doesn't move, then it will need to be replaced. See our 82-244 for a possible replacement option.
