Sliding patio door handle

A home owner from East Bridgewater, MA says:
Hello, I have a patio door handle that I would like to switch out for one that has a keyed entry from the outside. I cannot find any information on the door re: the manufacturer (the only markings on the glass are from the tempering company, Guardian). Attached are photos showing all 3 sides + measurements. As far as I can tell, the space between the screws in the inside handle (with the brown) is 4 inches, middle to middle. The entire black plate attached to the door is 7 1/4" long and the handle is 9 1/4" long. I will use any handle that will fit the door that I can access with a key from the outside, though I would prefer an all-white one. Please let me know if you need any more pictures / measurements / any other info. Thanks! Beth

Hey, Beth. Looks like your handle set is a match for our 82-035. With that in mind, I recommend our 82-315 key lock. You should be able to install this on your old handle set with no problem. See the video below for details on how this works.

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much! That does look like a match. I would like to switch over to a white handle at the same time, so I might order the handle you sent as well. Any chance it is available already with the keyed lock included, or do I need to buy both separately and do the same installation as in the video you sent?

Also, the latch plate is missing from the wall side of the frame; I see a lot of options for latch plates and 'keepers' on your site; how do I know which one to get? The holes from my missing plate are 3" apart.

Thanks so much! Beth

Great, I'm glad they match up. There are actually a lot of possible options for your keeper. It would depend on the space available in your door. You can see our entire selection here.

In your situation, I would recommend going with the hardware suggested.

Try 82-044 with 82-315 if you want white.
You do still need to drill and screw them together.
