Sliding window latch

Seeking a few replacement locks for sliding aluminum windows. Windows are XO sliders, aluminum frame, double pane. The original locks have "GP" on them as part of the die casting. They operate by pulling a lever which moves the latch into a groove in the frame of the fixed pane. The latch assembly is attached to the sliding pane by two screws that go into small pieces in the edge of the frame. Approximate dimensions of the latch are 0.75" W x 2.875" L.

The closest match I've been able to find is our 90-313. Could this be the lock you need?

What is the best way to install this lock. When I had to old lock off of the window, the things that to screws screw into kept slinig up and down in the chanel. How do I keep them from sliding, as they float loosley in the chanel and the slightest pressure from the screw pushes on the mechanism to that the threads cannnot grab.

The only way to install this lock is with screws. From your description, it sounds like the screw way is stripped, which is unfortunate. There's only so much you can do about that. I recommend contacting a local hardware store to see what they might recommend. Sometimes using a larger screw is enough to get around that but not always.
