Small crank out bathroom window

Home Owner from Waynesville, NC
Hello. We just purchased a 1945 farmhouse in western North Carolina and the bathroom window is missing some of the crank mechanism. I haven't taken it off yet out of fear we can't get it back on, but I'm happy to if it helps figure out what is needed. Thanks!

We may be able to help, but we can't identify the operator you need based on the base alone. Seeing it removed is ideal, but if you're worried about reinstallation then try to open the window first. Really, I just need to see the arms that physically push the sash open and pull it close. They're usually visible by just opening the window, if you can do that.

Otherwise, removal will be necessary.

Thanks Tom - How can I open it if I don't have the crank? Is there a easy way?

If the window is unlocked, you should be able to just push on the frame to open it. You don't have a worm gear in your operator so there's nothing really keeping it closed. However if the operator is for whatever reason locked up or otherwise inhibiting the ability to open it, then the project will be a lot more complicated. In that case you'll need to hire a professional to come out and remove it for you through whatever means are necessary.

Hey Tom - I did what you suggested and it opened up! Attached is the mechanism. Hopefully this is enough to be dangerous. Thanks so much.

Perfect! Thanks so much, this is just what I needed to see.

Please see our 39-146. I feel pretty confident that this is what you need. We also sell the 39-147 for the opposite side.

Note that these are genuine Andersen brand parts. If you see that name anywhere on the old mechanism, or the window itself (sometimes etched in the glass), then that cinches it. You may also see an "AW" mark which is their logo.
