From your experience is there a way to determine the part without unassembling the door. The manufacturer is not known. The door was installed approximately 1979.

No, in my experience there is no way to determine the roller without removing the door. That is especially the case if you don't know who made it to begin with. Your only option at this stage is to remove the roller ahead of time.
We can help, but we need a clear photo of the back end, top, and sides. We will also require precise written dimensions. I can then check our inventory to see if we sell a match.
Replacing patio door rollers is not a quick fix. You need to brace yourself for a pretty significant investment of time and effort. You'll also need a second pair of hands, if you don't already have them.
