Spiral Balance

Handy Person from Dallas, Texas
Hi.

I am trying to replace the spiral balances for a tilt window. The balances are 3/8 and 35" - and the tips are black, as far as I can tell. I don't have a scale so I can't weigh it. What should I do? is there a significant difference between the green and the white tip?

Cheers,

Ruben

Thanks for posting, Ruben. In this situation, it's highly recommended that you weigh your sash so that you know exactly what color tip you need for your balance. Without knowing your sash weight, the best we could do is guess.

That said, our 3/8" diameter Series 900 tilt balance balances don't usually have a Black Tip. Our 5/8" Series 600 does, however. Are you sure your diameter is 3/8"? Can you confirm for me?

As for the Green and White Tips for t he S900-35, there is a difference. The White Tip supports a window sash weight range of 7 through 22 pounds, while the Green Tip supports 14 through 26 pounds. Again, I highly recommend that you find a way to get the exact weight of your sash.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your response. I measured the tilt balances again, they are in fact 3/8" and 35". I was finally able to weigh the window, and it is approx 28 pounds. What do you recommend? Would a green tip tilt balance do the trick?
Cheers,

Thank you for your patience in this matter. These balances will have to be custom made with a yellow tip for it to support your window sash. I will email you a custom order link and price quote for your review. You can use this to place an order on our website.
