House built in 1950. Sash spring 5/8" thick. Attached to bottom of window with a 3" bracket, two screws.

These older spiral balances can be replaced by our Series 500, along with a 17-012 bracket that screws to the bottom of the sash. It looks like from your photos you'd need the S500-23 specifically, but double-check your dimensions to be safe.
