Spiral Balance replacement part numbers for a tilt window

Quick Learner from Federal Way, WA

I have 2 questions.

First the channel for my window spiral balance pivot shoe is exactly 1 inch wide. so should a replacement shoe be 15/16 wide to allow it to fit in the channel?vIf so do you carry them and what is the cost and order number?

Second -the spiral balance replacement is a little thicker at the top where the screw attaches it to the frame than the existing balance. Do I need to order a slightly longer screw?

Thanks

Hello! Thanks for reaching out.

First, when it comes to pivot shoe replacement, you want to measure the shoe itself, not the channel. In your case your shoe looks much wider than 1". Can you tell me its exact width and thickness?

As for the spiral balance screw, I don't think the top is all that wider than the rest of the tube. I think what's happening here is that the tube is depressed where the screw installs, which gives the impression that the top is larger. This is a common occurrence on spiral balances with a plastic tube. I would just stick with the screw size you have now.

In general, you want to replace your hardware with replacement parts that are the same style and size as the originals wherever possible.
