Spiral Balances

A handy person from Enfield, CT says:
Outer plastic tube is 9/16" diameter and 29" long. Balance is coiled metal with blue tip (sash weighs 16 lbs). Length from top end of balance is 28&1/4" - but length measured from screw hole is 28".
I'm thinking I should order 5/8" blue tip 29" balance, but wanted to check length with you. What is your opinion, please. Thank you.

P.S. I do not have a picture phone but please refer to photo with very similar balance in the picture submitted by "Handy Person from West Chester, PA".

I can't see the post you're referencing, but I don't think I need to.

If this is for a tilting window, then you're on the right track. The length will be 28", not 29", though. Go with S600-28 and a blue tip.

If the window doesn't tilt, let me know.
