Spiral Balances

In addition to 15 of your 15-070 Pivot shoes, I need some balances. Your catalog does not give a good guide to what balance I should order. I need four 23" long balances (.54" dia) I am assuming the ones you describe as 5/8". The window weight is 31 lbs. Window was manufactured by thermo guard.

I also need two spiral balances 23" long, .54" diameter with a window weight of 21.5 lbs.

In many of the other balances, the grease has turned very sticky and as thick as wax. Do you recommend a lubricant to reenergise these, or should they just be replaced. I tried Marvel mystery oil on a few, and it seemed to improve the lubricity of the grease. For now I am just looking to repair the broken pieces, but will probably start a maintenance schedule to replace the non-broken parts which are now 20 years old, and seem to be very frgile. (The first pivot Shoe was broken within 4 years of the new window's life. Two broke as I adjusted the balances.)

Good Afternoon,

I recommend the Series 600-23 Spiral Balance with the blue tip option. The blue tip is for sashes weighing up to 30 lbs. If you want to go higher, select the black tip, which supports sashes up to 40 lbs. Using the mystery marvel on the old balances is a good idea to loosen up the hardened grease.

I went to the page mentioned, and there seems to be a selection option of Red or Green, no Black or blue. Are these specials, or located somewhere else in your catalog?

Drew, the top color option is for a blue tip.
