Connecting Bracket for Spiral balance 500

Question

I have installed,but window didn't appear to have clip to hold it. It seems like it just goes up the hole. Should I add the piece of hardware that goes under the sill or is there a clip that fis in the hole?

Have a friend hold up the sash and use a flash light to look up under the sash. See if there is a fork-like bracket attached to the side of the sash. If so, that's what the balance attaches to. If there isn't anything like that there, consider a bracket like our 17-012. This is installed under the sash with screws.
