Spiral balance for tilt window

Quick Learner

Hi Swisco

I just call about spiral balance for tilt window

I Measure 28" x 3/8 (Metal to metal )

It had a plastic cover over the spring

But if you notice where is screws into the window is broken off which is a white plastic So it would measure 28 1/4 " if it was still on

Thanks

That white plastic is very important. That will also determine the diameter. You don't want to measure the bare spring when determining size, for either diameter or length.

Do you have an undamaged version of this balance that still has its outer tube? If so, you want to use that as a reference.

If not, then assuming that the bare spring is 3/8" in diameter, I can logically deduce that the tube is larger, which would probably put it at 9/16". If I'm right, then you want our S600-28.

Hi Tom
The white plastic that broke off I'm referring to is what holds the screw to the window frame

But my tip is yellow

There is no yellow 9/16
Thanks

The white plastic that you refer to in your first batch of pictures is the outer tube. It once covered the entire balance but crumbled away. That's what you need to be measuring to determine size, not the bare spring you're showing now.

The tip here also isn't yellow. It was white, but just became discolored from age. Odds are you'll need a Red tip color option to replace it, but you should weigh your sash on a scale to confirm.
