Spiral balance replacement

A quick learner from Texas, USA says:

I need to replace the spiral balances in my window. I have removed the old one and it measures 30 inches long and 3/8 in diameter. It is a metal tube, but does not have a colored tip. It is a single hung window, so how can I determine its weight to order the correct balance?

(The house was built in the early 80's, if that helps any.)

Thanks

Hello! I see you were looking at our S400-30. Am I right to presume, then, that this is a non-tilt window? I just want to be 100% sure.

Whether your window is tilt or non-tilt, though, then the broad answer is the same: if your have no color tip on your old balance to use as a reference, you must weigh the sash on a scale and refer to the chart you see on that product page.
