Spiral balance with longer inner core

A quick learner from Florida says:
I need to replace spiral balances on al old window. The tube is 5/8" in diameter and 23" long but the inner spiral is 24.5". Space above the window sash is 23.4 inches and I thinks I can safely install a a 24" balance. Do you think that will work?

Hello,

Take a look at our S500-23 spiral balance. If your original balance has a 23" long tube and worked well when they were originally installed, I would recommend replacing it with the same length. The white tip on your balance is also outdated, so you'll need to weigh your window sash and choose the correct strength option following the chart below. Thank you!

Color Tip      Sash Weight Range

Red               7 to 29 lbs

Blue             12 to 31 lbs
