Spiral balancers

A quick learner from Eau Claire Wisconsin says:
The window is double hung with a sash that weighs 20 pounds and is 30 inches tall (26 inches glass). The color on the tip of the balancer is blue. I would need to replace the shoe and spiral balancer. I would also need to tool to tighten them. Please provide a list of parts needed. Email if any more information is needed.

Looks like you need a new tilt window spiral balance. Since this balance has a blue tip, I suspect you'll need a Series 600 balance, which is 5/8" in diameter; but you'll want to measure the diameter on the outer tube of your old balance to confirm this. To know what length to select, measure the length of that outer tube, up to and not including the colored tip.

For your pivot shoe, you might need something like the 15-047, but you'll need to remove your old and shoe and compare the width and thickness to confirm this. For a charging tool for tilt window spiral balances, see our 75-006
