Spiral bslance

Question

I need to repair multiple windows like this. The spiral has fallen down. Not sure if I need a new cylinder. It appears that all i need is the bottom piece, but I'm not sure and not sure how to "recharge" the spring.

You may just need to charge the spring, yes. It would be worth trying that out first just in case, since it's a relatively simple process. I would recommend using a tool like our 75-005 and giving it two or three turns. Then, reinstall the balance and see if it works well. If it still droops, give it another one or two turns. You should definitely start feeling tension build by this point. If not, then the springs may be shot and will need to be replaced. If that's the case, let me know and we can work from there.
