Series 380 or Series 385?

Quick Learner from Temecula CA
Hello, I am researching your products to find an appropriate spring balance for my single hung non tilt windows. The old (broken) part has a stamp on the metal channel that says "26C USB". The metal channel is 27" long and 9/16" wide. It looks exactly like both the 380 and 385 series available on your website, so I am a bit confused as to what the difference is between the lower feet on the 380 and 385. The windows are original vinyl with the house which was built in 2004, but I am unsure of the manufacturer. Is this enough information for you to recommend a part, or would you like to see pictures as well? I really appreciate your guidance!

Regards, Jeff

Thanks for posting, Jeff. The only difference between theSeries 385 and Series 380 is the size of the bottom fitting, or "shoe" as it's often called. The Series 385 comes with the 15-004, which is 1-3/32" deep, while the Series 380 comes with the 15-005 at 1" deep. The diagram below will show you precisely what I'm talking about.

Ah-ha! That's the difference...

I will check that detail and if it all matches up, I'm sure that I can proceed with placing an order. I was also lucky enough to find a part number cross-reference table while visiting Home Depot...looks like 26C should correspond to the 2630 channel and spring tension (where A, B, C, D would be an alternative to xx10, xx20, xx30, xx40, respectively). Would you agree? Many thanks for your help!

Great! I'm glad that information helped. Let me know what balance you end up going with.

As for the stamps, you are correct. This is the same system we use to identify options for our channel balances.

Paul,

After a quick measure, looks like the 385 was the right one...thanks again for your guidance. Congrats on a really well organized and detailed website. Although I don't really want to have to repair damaged windows in the future, I will bookmark your company website and refer back to it whenever the need arises!
