Stainless steel for roller - it's the corner that takes the hit

Contractor from North Carolina
Screen doors subject to coastal climate. The plastic rollers hold up, but the housing for the rollers do not. I was considering the 84-101 with stainless housing with poly rollers. However, the corner adjustment screws are rusted solid - top and bottom. Like I say, "the beach is a lab experiment, nothing holds up for long". Assuming I can break the corners loose, and replace those, too, are there corner replacements where the adjusting screw will hold up (e.g., stainless machine screws)?

You're right, the screws the door manufacturer use don't help that much in your environment if they aren't stainless. If you are able to get the screw out, you can take it to your local hardware store and see if they have the same length and thread count in stainless steel. The screw is a #10 x 2-1/2" long.

Thanks, Paul. My only concern about the retrofit is the dissimilar metals and how they may react to the environment. We see some pretty strange corrosion and reactions when two metals are near each other - we watch aluminum exterior light fixtures 'melt away' over time and the galvanized brackets rusted shut. I was considering poly machine screws since there is little torque or stress on them. We use poly thumb screws for a number of different things and they seem to hold up.

I am afraid you are correct. The salt air does havoc on any metal product, unfortunately.
