I have a broken balance on a double hung tilting window. Stamp on balance is 21S27. What balance would replace this?

Thank you for reaching out to us. I see that you were looking at our S770-22 channel balance. Is this the same Series and length that you have? If so, then the "27" marking you see in the stamp may actually indicate the weight of the sash, in this case 27 pounds.

To confirm, I'd like you to weigh your sash on a scale and tell me what you get. Please give me an exact weight, down to the ounce. That will allow us to confirm beyond any doubt what the spring calibration ought to be.

Also, please confirm that the 22" long Series 770 is the right configuration otherwise. If if differs, I will need more information about your balance, starting with photos.

The sash weighs approximately 24.8 lbs. I don't know the original manufacturer of the balances but your website so far has had the most information about the balances and designs look more reliable than my current ones

I wouldn't worry about how reliable ours is compared to yours at the moment. Design is more important. For example, if the clip at the end of the cord on your balance is even slightly different than what you see on the Series 770, then it simply won't work no matter how reliable it is.

All that said, if your sash is 24.8 pounds then you could use our 22E stamp option to replace it. You can see on the chart we show on the S770-22 store page that this stamp holds 24 through 27 pounds. That would be the way to go, but only assuming that the S770-22 is correct. At this stage I do not know if it is or not, so keep that in mind. I'm just going off of what you've told me.
