Sticking Windows

Quick Learner from 89509

Hello I recently cleaned and lubricated my very sticky windows with W-40 silicone lubricant. The windows are still somewhat sticky to the point where they need physical assistance to open. I just purchased 25ft Keft mount 5/16' bubble seal weather stripping. Will that help the situation? Is there a product that you recommend that will help reduce this issue? Also Do you sell Window Screens and Windows panes or French doors. I have a couple of screens I need replacing. Do you have any recommendations on this issue as well? Thank you for your time.

Cordially,

Thanks for reaching out to us, Mark. I'm afraid we don't sell screens or window panes of any kind, and French doors in general are unfortunately a little too far outside our wheelhouse to assist with. Our specialty lies in windows and sliding doors.

I can help with the casement window, though. Based on your description I would wager there is some issue with either the hinge or the operator. Now, when you say that the window is "sticking," can you go into more precise detail? Does the window hang up at a very specific spot when you try to close it each time, or does it seem to be sporadic and random? Does it only happen when you open it, when you close it, or both?

Right now my tentative theory is that the operator gears might be stripped out in some way, but your answers to those questions will help me be sure. There are many possible explanations.
