Storm door lock

Question

I have the screws but they don't seem to fit. They only screw in approximately 1 turn so all the screws are either too long or too short. I'm not if they are supposed to screw in further or not but I am not able to use this. The door handle installed easily. Not sure if I need a new lock or the corr3ct screws. It is product code 40-058.

I'm afraid I don't know what the issue is. I've never heard of the screws on the 40-058 handle set not being able to screw in.

May I ask you how thick your door is?
