This is from inward back door. This one works well but cannot be used to replace mechanism on outward facing front door.

On some storm door locks like this, the latch can be flipped around. See if you can do that. Also see if a locksmith in your area can help.
Thing is, your type of lock is no longer available on the market. You would need to replace it with a surface type like our 40-058 or any of the regular storm door locks. The newer mortise type lock set appear to be longer than the one you show in your photo, so it may require some retrofitting. If you want, send us some photos of the storm door you are now working on for us to take a look at.
