Hi there. I'm wondering if you can help me on the following...I can only get my locking mechanism about half way down (provides a seal), but it doesn't pull all the way down on the tie rod, so am just not sure if there is anything I can adjust to get this locking mechanism to full lock closed. Thanks.

Hey there!

Thank you for reaching out to us. I'm afraid this type of lock doesn't adjust. It sounds like it needs to be replaced by what you describe. Start by taking a look at the 38-096 and 38-139. Review the specifications below and see how they compare with your old lock. Note that the projection of the fork is especially important.

Thanks for your reply. I actually just did replace this locking mechanism with an EXACT matching one, measurements, etc. Could it be the tie bars need to be replaced? My understanding is that on those tie bars that DO adjust, screwing the circular catch bolt makes it closer or further away from the window to make the full closure...therefore, I'm not sure that replacing the lock again changes that. Any further thoughts? Thanks

It sounds like your sash keeper might need to be adjusted instead. I recommend you check the keeper on the sash to see if it can be adjusted or needs to be repositioned on the window.

Thanks for the info - do you have a link to a video or a product I can see to better understand what specifically needs to be adjusted? When I look up sash keeper, many items appear. Thanks

I'm afraid there isn't a video we can show you but I believe the keeper is shown in one of the photos you've uploaded. I circled it below. You may also want to check it for any signs of wear or damage.
