My door was not made with a hole to accept a key lock

Quick Learner from USA
I purchased the 82-081 handle with lock. My question is two parts:

There is no hole on the outside of the door for which the key should go through so do I need to drill a hole? If so what diameter?

Then do I need a different mortise lock on the inside which will fit the new key lock system?

Thanks for posting! It looks like you will need to drill a new hole, yes. If memory serves, the key lock for the 82-081 sticks out from the back of the outer handle  a little bit. You'll need to make the hole diameter large enough to accommodate this cylinder so that it is snug in the door. I don't know the exact diameter as I am working from home, due to the health crisis. I'm sorry that I can't give you a clearer dimension.

If the lock cylinder is flush with the handle then you just need a  hole large enough for the tail.

You won't need a new mortise, the one you have should be fine.

Thanks for the response. I'll try that and let you know if I have further questions. Stay healthy.
