latch is 2 1/2" long
latch is 14/16 wide

I agree, the 25-394 does look close. The dimensions also seem to match. What makes you unsure?

Dave there is nothing in the slit. I guess I'm to use the white tab and hardware from my old one. The price is right so I will give it a shot. Thanks in advance

Ah, I see. That tab is actually called a nite lock, and is no longer available. That said, it also isn't necessary for the latch to function. You should be able to use your old one regardless.
