Tail on lock keeps on breaking

Quick Learner from Washington
Hi,
I have this lock but in silver for my patio door. Twice now the tail on the key lock has broken while trying to lock/unlock the patio door from the outside.

The mortise lock open and closes smoothly, so I am wondering what I can do to create a stronger connection between the latch lever and the key lock?

Thanks

Thanks for posting. Hm, if the mortise lock is functioning fine, another thought that comes to mind is that maybe the tail on the key lock is too long for your door. This is just a guess, but if this were the case, the tail on the key lock and the inside thumb latch might be binding against each other; this would cause the key lock to be difficult to turn without breaking the tail. Cutting the tail down a bit on the key cylinder might solve this. Let us know if you think this might work for you. If not, I'll confer with my colleagues about other possible causes.
