The Thumb Lock on my Andersen sliding glass door is loose - repair or replace?

A home owner from Concord, Calif says:
In Sept 1998 I bought an Andersen Sliding Glass Door model FWG100068-4. The thumb lock is loose - can that be tightened or do I need to replace the thumblock and/or the entire latch assembly? Pictures attached. I think it is a Newbury style thumb lock but not sure? Any help is appreciated

It sounds like it might be a problem with the inside mortise lock, not the thumb latch. I don't think that problem can be repaired. I recommend removing the thumb latch completely and manually testing the lock with a screwdriver to see if it's still malfunctioning. If so, check out our 82-037 and see if this matches your existing lock. Make sure to carefully compare all the dimensions we show to your own hardware.
