The hex screw to tighten and secure handle does not work.

Thanks for your post! It looks like the set screw is missing from your handle set. This isn't something we sell separately but we do have replacement handles. Carefully review and compare the dimensions for the 40-101 Handle Pair to determine if it might be compatible with your door and hardware.
