The shoe of these coil balances broke.

A quick learner from Washington dc says:
This broke causing my window to fall down this week.

Attached are the pictures I took today. Is that common for both shoes to break in almost the exact same way at the exact same time?

I haven't taken them out yet, I don't believe there is a cut out

Is it better to replace the shoe, or is it just the entire coil assembly?
