Tight Shoes

A handy person from WI says:
I have vinyl tilt-in windows that use the 15-178 Pivot Lock Shoe, Brown Brake Pad. I?ve had a hard time moving the sashes up / down for years, and have finally figured out the issue.

Most of my pivot bars are a little loose, and the screws just spin on some. It appears the pivot bars are applying the brake pad just enough to make it hard to move the sash.

Is there a different, more forgiving shoe that I can use in the place of the 15-178?

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Unfortunately, there isn't really a different version of the 15-178. Pivot shoes like this are pretty specific and you won't find a lot of variation. It sounds like the issue may lie with the pivot bars. You might want to check a local hardware store for larger screws that wouldn't be so loose in the sash.
