Tighten the Self Closer

A landlord from Boise, ID says:
We have a medical office where we installed an handicap opener (automatic opener) for our front door. The contractor that installed the opener had to remove the self closer and re-install it on the outside of the door. There is no "spring" to the closer; it will barely close by itself and has no little pressure on the door that the wind blowing has enough force to open the door. How do I tighten this self closer for a vistawall door?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
Thanks for posting! To increase the strength of the closer you must first remove the main arm of the square closer shaft. It is held on with screw. Remove the arm and then install it back onto the closer shaft at a different setting on the shaft. Try it out once it's back on. If it's not to your liking, reset the arm on the shaft until you do get the proper strength. I believe a lock smith or someone in the glass business who works on doors should be able to adjust this, if you need hands-on help.
