Hello, I have a few windows that either won't open properly (i.e. tilt to one side or another, isn't level) and/or they slip down when put up. I've removed the window in one of them and the left hand spiral balances was not clamped in and there is no tension. I assume this means it needs to be replaced? The balance I removed is 5/8 inch wide and 30 inches long. I used your measurement guide to take the length. I believe I found the right replacement but the colour of my balance at the end is yellow which doesn't match the colours on your website. The other two windows are kind of jammed but they too are yellow at the bottom. I'm afraid to take them off in the same way to measure the length and width because I'm not sure I'll be able to get them back on while I wait for the parts. They look to be 5/8 inch thought too but are much larger windows but are the same size.
So based on your answers I may start out by seeing if I can be successful replacing one window before order the rest, or is there another way to measure length without taking the existing balance out?
Provided are photos of the balance, the shoe (do I need to replace this too?) and the top of the balance that shows the colour.
Thanks in advance,
Anne

HI there, Anne. If your sash is 25 pounds then you can use our Red Tip color option. That's probably what color your tip was originally and it just became discolored over the years. It happens all the time. As for the larger window, I wouldn't guess. You should weigh the sash on a scale to confirm. |
