I hope you can help me. I "think" my windows are single-hung Patriot windows. I purchased this townhouse 4 yrs. ago, and I believe they may be the same windows that were put in when built (so at least 20+ yrs.). The tilt latch has broken on several of the windows. I've included pics, however I do have more. I just purchased 26-121 and 26-120. I thought I'd measured correctly - but I didn't. These look very much like the ones I have, The major difference is the width of the latch. I would have to make new holes and the latch would not fit exactly like it does now in the window frame. The original is approx. 3 1/4 length; hole to hole is 2 1/8; and the width is either 1 or 1 1/16 (hard to measure with a ruler that is not exact). The ones I ordered are 3 1/4 length, 2 1/8 hole to hole; and with width is 1 1/4.
As you can see there is a substantial difference is the width, which throws the whole thing off. I have pics that show how it fits in the window frame. The older one fits deeper to the right or left than the new one, because of the width. I could attach the latch further from the window frame, but the latch itself just holds the window in (hardly 1/16 inch - just the tips of it). I would also have to drill new holes. Two problems there - the new holes would be fairly close to the original, and I am enough of a novice to be afraid I might crack the window itself since I really don't know what I am doing.
What would you suggest that would help me? When I did the measurements originally, I didn't realize I was off on the width and that the latch itself is bigger than the original. The only marking on the back of the original is an R or L.
I hope there will be a solution for me. Many of the original latches are deteriorating from years in the sun.
Thanks for your time. I will look forward to hearing from you! (the color I would need is beige, but I would be willing to use white as a substitute)
