Tilt Window Latch Replacment

Quick Learner
26-243 and 244 are the correct parts I need but instead of a tab on bottom to lock in mine has an area with a screw.

Thanks for reaching out to us. This one is a bit of an odd one. Your tilt latch looks similar to our 26-243 and 26-244 at first glance, except yours has a kind of bracket sticking out from the bottom.

I've never seen that before, and we sell nothing like that. I wonder if it's an intentional design feature, or if your latch broke in such a way as to only make it appear so. Would it be possible to see an undamaged version so that I can verify?

The latch is broken on the end.  The window won't click in with the latch so we can't put them up.  The only thing different with the part number I mentioned and mine is that we use a screw to install it.

Thanks! That is a bit strange. Please give us a little more time to research this and I'll get right back to you.

Thanks again for your patience. After some research, we have learned that your old tilt latch style is not made anymore. We are unfortunately not able to supply a latch that has that vertical post to help secure it to the sash frame.

The good news is that we still think you can use our 26-243 and 26-244, but you may need to make some alterations. My idea would be to slide them in as usual, and then using a small screw to act as a stop so that they don't go too far into the sash. Otherwise they might go in too deep and you wouldn't be able to get them out.

That said, it's just a hypothesis. I've never done that before. It may take some experimentation to get our latches to work for this application, but we unfortunately don't have anything better.
