Hello,

I believe our best surface-mounted tilt latch options for your sash would be the 26-176 and 26-177. We'll include the specifications from our product page below. Look them over and see what you think.

Paul,
I am unclear how this part recommendation will avoid the second mounting screw from being driven through the slit starting at 2-9/16" to roughly 3-7/16" (as shown in the first image). The product specs you shared for 26-176 inficates to me, that the second mounting screw will be positioned at 5/8" + 2-7/16" = 3-1/16", which is well within the slit range. I am assuming you also noticed this and perhaps are recommending that I go ahead and drive the screw through the old internal latch which happens to still exist in this window (but not all of my sashes which require top latch repair). Please advise, and thank you for your time.

Unforutnately, I was unable to locate a longer tilt latch to avoid the cutout in your sash frame. You mentioned that you have some intact tilt latches on some of the windows. May I see the thumb sash release lever they use?

Paul,
I have attached a pictures capturing the dimensions placement, and enguagement interface of what I believe you were referring to as the thumb sash release lever.
Please let me know if you need anyother shots or measurements.
Thanks

You might be able to use the 26-234 tilt finger latch. Please compare the dimensions below to yours, paying close attention to the locking fork, to confirm if it's a match.

Paul,
Are you then recommending that I not purchace any top mount latches and instead opt for rebuilding the interior latch mechanisms? I really did not want to do that, but I can begin taking the window sash appart for one that is intact, and I can take pictures of the corner latch mechanism.
If not your recommendation, then I can also just go with the certainteed finger latch (or similar) which mounts up just before the slit. I don't think this will exhibit any mounting issues as I understood the diagram.

The 26-176 and 26-177 top-mounted tilt latches would be our best surface-mounted replacements but it sounds like you won't be able to mount them around the cutout in your sash. Since I couldn't find a longer top-mounted latch, the 26-234 latch actuator would be our best option for your windows with functional internal latches. If you could remove an intact internal latch from one of your windows to show us, we'd be happy to confirm if we carry a match.
