Tilt latch

Home Owner from Rhode Island, United States
I purchased tilt latches that slide in from the side, and noticed that my latches do not slide in. They are not entirely internal and use no screws, but have a tab that sits on top of the window. They seem to pop in to a hole from above and then have that tab sit on top of the end of the window. I have 5-6 window with this type of latch broken. Can you help?

Thanks for posting. I see you purchased the 26-408. Can you tell me how the dimensions of your old tilt latches differ from the diagrams below? If so, can you specify what the actual measurements are? We'll try and find something better from there.

I have not been able to get one of the old latches out. I will ask some to help me do that today. If you know how I can best remove them when they do not slide, or have screws, let me know.

Looking at the latch while it is in the window, it is 2 7/8 inches long (the portion showing above the surface on the window). The main body of the latch is 3/4 inch wide and the tab portion at the end that sits atop the window surface is 1 7/16 inches by 0.5 inches. The portion that has the latch you pull back is 1.5 inches long.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.
