Tilt window latch

Home Owner from Charlottesville
I recently bought a Truth Tilt latch set, part 26-442. The latch is almost the same as the original, but the original body appears about 1/8" longer so the nose has minimal overlap with the frame if the latch is pushed fully into its mounting slot. Also the original was a snap in style and there is no hole for the screw which I assume holds the 26-442 in place.
Width and thickness are the same as the original
Do you have a latch which will better fit my windows?

Hi there!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Before we get started, could you upload some pictures of your original tilt latch, along with dimensions?

Thank you!

I apologize for the slow reply, I was trying to find my old latch.
It seems the 26-442 latch is 1/16" shorter than the original, and the slot where I need to replace the latch is perhaps 1/16" deeper than on the other side of the window, so the overlap of the nose of the latch with the frame may be 1/16" less than normal with the latch I first tried. So perhaps the 1/16" shorter body is not a problem for other spot.
However how to hold the latch in place is a problem. I believe the retaining clip is on the right side of the bottom view of the existing latch. The slot for the latch does not look suitable for using a screw to retain the latch

Take a look at our 26-243 and 26-244 tilt latches instead. Compare our dimensions to yours and see if this matches what you need.

Thank you. The 26-243 almost fit correctly, but the distance between the retaining clip on the bottom, as shown in your picture, is 3/16" but on mine the distance is about 1/16". A local shop installed what I suspect is a 26-243 and it can slide in the slot it is mounted in. Perhaps a piece of plastic stuck to the window 1/8" thick stuck on the frame could solve the annoyance. Otherwise it seems26-243/4 latches will fit fine.
