Tilt window pivot shoe: 15-178 vs 15-188

Question

I have the small pivot shoe as shown in this post:

In the post, Bob recommended 15-178, yet why wouldn't 15-188 work as 15-188 appears to be closer in size depth wise than 15-178. Does it have to do with the brake pad thickness? Something else I'm not aware of? I'd rather not buy both parts to discover which one fits better. I appreciate your help.

Thank you for your patience during this busy season. The pivot shoe in the discussion you cite has a thickness of 9/16". This is actually closer to the thickness of the 15-178, which has a thickness of 17/32". Let us know if you have any other questions.
