Too hard to open

Home Owner from California
Hi, I have to lean over a counter to open/close the window. I can't open it unless I climb onto the counter to lift it and its still hard! It's in a bathroom and the channels are rusting so I can't see any stamp on it. It weighs 20 lbs. If I can get it up I can put a stick under it to keep it open, not ideal, but cheaper than replacing the windows! Suggestion?
Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue,

With this combination of attachments, you could have either an S380 or S385 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment. You'll also need to follow the chart on the balance product page that explains how to choose your option based on the sash weight you've provided.

Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks Casey,
I've determined it's the S385 I need based on measurements, which I'll order regardless. However, that could simply be a replacement, and not lighten my load so to speak! Is there another option if the window is till too heavy to lift?
Thanks again, Sue

Great. As long as your window sash weighs exactly 20 pounds you can use the S385-18 balance with a 1750 strength option, which will support 17 to 20 lbs.
