Top Tilt Latch

A home owner from 75044 says:
On the 28-079 latch how far does the tongue protrude from the housing and what is the thickness.
What does the safety lock do?

Paul from SWISCO responded:

Many thanks for your correspondence. The tongue on the 26-079 sticks out 7/16" and is 3/16" thick. The safety lock screw, when turned will not let the latch go back into the housing, to prevent the sash tilting in accidentally.
