Top sash guide from Milgard 2003 window

Would you kindly help me identify this part for ordering? Left side of the photo with a hollow us the top of the sash, it seems to be a horizontal plastic water drain channel. This is the tip sash guide of a Milgard 2003 window. The balance pops out due to the blocking top flat section having broken off due to age, heat, stress. This sash balance is unusual. It has 3/4" outer width of the main channel.
Inside at the outer facing side, the guide has to narrow on one side by 1/8". The spring balance stamp 32-4 has wings at its plastic ends that are 7/8" wide. (I have a new replacement balance on

Hello,

This looks like the old Milgard brand top sash guide that is no longer made. The good news is that you may be able to use the 18-009 as a substitute. The catch is that you'll need to trim off the top "edge" that sticks out from the body so that it will fit in the groove of your sash frame. Otherwise, as long as the other dimensions match, you should be good to go.

Thank you Casey. I was about to order this but hesitated: you also have a similar Top Sash Guide, 3/4" Product Code: 18-138. The 18-009 that you suggest is 5/8" that is slightly narrower. Do I need to take off the window sash, take off the broken top guide, measure its width exactly? I did measure the sash channel balance quite accurately, it was indeed 3/4".

The 18-009 is what we generally recommend for your Milgard guide and the 18-138 is a different style than yours. I agree that it would be a good idea to remove your guide from the sash to confirm the exact measurements since the top sash guide does not fill the entire width of the channels. You mentioned the sash opening measures 3/4", so the guide should be smaller.

Thank you Casey. Yes,indeed the guide should be slightly narrower to fit snugly in 3/4" channel, so 5/8" is the right size. I have ordered the 18-009.
